When Bluetooth technology was first introduced into the market as the safer and secure medium of wireless communication, many people did not believe it. But with the most secure technologies viz. frequency hopping and user authentication, Bluetooth gained some respect in the market and many cell phone and computer manufactures today are integrating Bluetooth inside these devices. But still it is not 100% secure and can be hacked if you do not take proper precautions. Today many security patches are coming in the market to enhance the security features of Bluetooth technology. Though Bluetooth can be hacked; with proper care and safety measures you can avoid this problem. The only cell phones getting hacked today are the ones who have not installed any proper security software in the phone.
Some important things any Bluetooth enabled device owner should know are things like hackers which can steal the data or send the viruses can do that only when he knows how to break the phone connection by forcing two paired devices and how to get the data packets which resends the pin code and how to encode and decode the pin code. Other important things are that the hacker should be within the permissible range of Bluetooth communication limit and must have advanced networking software installed on this phone to be able to hack another phone in range.
If you know these things then you can be always ahead of any hacker and can make your cell phone or any other device secure by using an 8 or longer digit pin code. Also when you pair with another Bluetooth enabled device for the purpose of the communication then you should use a stronger authentication system which makes it almost impossible for the hacker to decode it.
