Holidays are a time for traditions. Christmas is probably the leading holiday when it comes to creating those traditions. There are several creative Christmas traditions that you and your neighbors could start this year. I really hope you'll consider trying out some of these creative Christmas traditions with your neighbors this year.Exchange Dishes: This Christmas, why make several dishes for your family when you could make just one? This year, take part in this creative Christmas tradition with your neighbors. People always have trouble coming up with different dishes to make each year. This year, get together with your neighbors and have each family prepare a different dish. On Christmas morning, everyone could exchange their dishes. I suggest using disposable pans so that no one worries about getting their favorite casserole dish back. Depending on the amount of neighbors you have, you could end up with several side dishes for your Christmas dinner.
Cookie Swap: A cookie swap is a wonderful and very creative Christmas traditions that your neighbors will love. To participate in a cookie swap, each neighbor will make a different cookie and then, on a specified date, all the neighbors will get together to swap cookies. For more information see my article: 8 Steps for a Successful Cookie Swap.
White Elephant Gifts: Swapping white elephant gifts with your neighbors is a very creative idea and will quickly become a Christmas tradition in your neighborhood. The idea is to buy a gift that anyone could use. Buying these gifts really does take the stress out of shopping. Instead of focusing on a specific person and what they would like, you simply pick a gift that anyone would like, such as a gift card.
Block Party: A block party is a wonderful Christmas traditions to celebrate with your neighbors and it can be very creative. You could have a block party where everyone comes dressed as Mrs. and Mr. Clause. You could also do other creative things like exchanging white elephant gifts, doing Christmas karaoke, and playing games like Name That Christmas Special.
