I was thrilled when non-stick cookware appeared on the cooking scene many years ago. I happily made the switch from my stainless pots and pans. I would now save calories as well as time spent cleaning. Well, it's now many years later and I feel it's time to make the switch back to Stainless Steel cookware. I've been reading quite a bit about how the coating on non-sticks can come off and find its way into the food. I also found I was often replacing these pots and pans, particularly the frying pans, so i wasn't really saving any money. Nor did I feel I was saving on calories as i found as time went on I had to use oil in my frying pans as some of the non-stick quality seemed to have disappeared. I was in Marshalls recently and came across the Cuisinart Stainless Saute Pan and lid. It was quite reasonable priced at 39.95. It was nicely designed. It was of a reasonably heavy weight, had one long handle on one side and a hand grip on the other to help lift the pan. I liked that idea as so many times I've found pans to be quite difficult and unwieldy to lift when filled.

I purchased the Cuisinart Stainless steel pan and tried it out that evening. I made my Turkey Burger recipe (see my review: Trader Joe's Kosher White Ground Turkey) I found the pan to be large and roomy enough to accomodate 5 burgers and by adding a small amount of oil, the turkey burgers did not stick. Instead they browned quickly and evenly. I then put on the snug fitting lid and before I knew it the burgers were ready to eat. The next day I made my hot sauce chicken recipe and again I was more than pleased with the outcome.

I recently purchased the 8" Cusinart Stainless Steel Open Skillet at Macy's. It was on special for 19.00. I use it every morning to make my broccoli and cheese omelet. It comes out perfectly with a minimum of cleanup.
