There are numerous benefits of friendships. Not only can they lengthen your lifespan, having good friends will improve the overall quality of your life. Friends can be there through the ups and downs, good times and bad times, and just help make life a little more tolerable at times. Motherhood friends can help encourage you through the trials of parenting and much more. Unfortunately, in our fast paced society, good friends are hard to find. But, like the trite saying goes, to have a friend, you need to be a friend. If you are a mother, and wanting to be a terrific friend, here are some tips to help you.

Initaite Playgroup Meetings and Playdates

Some mothers honestly don't care if they are always in charge, but others prefer f you share the responsibility of hosting play dates. If you are fortunate enough to have a friend with children your age, try your best to host play dates occasionally. If you don't feel your house is ever large or clean enough, remember you can always meet at a park or other location. Try to take turns with your mommy friends and do your share in planning play dates. For ideas, read "10 Fun Indoor Playgroup Ideas."

Don't Gossip

One way to truly ruin a friendship is to talk about her behind her back. Unfortunately, you might find a lot of gossip in playgroups, at the playground, etc. There is really nothing positive about gossip. Read the article, "Is it Gossip?" for more insight on this horrible little monster. As a general rule, don't talk about moms and their kids behind their backs.

Don't Criticize Parenting Styles.
