The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is 153,075 acres making it the largest urban park in the world. The numerous points of interest include Native American cultural centers, hiking trails, lunch and picnic areas and eco-programs offered by park employees and volunteers. Santa Monica Mountains offers activities for all ages and physical abilities. I have chosen a few favorite spots that I am sure everyone will enjoy.

Paramount Ranch:

Paramount Ranch once owned by Paramount films and noted for filming new and old Western films. Visitors can watch old silent movies and enjoy the glories of old Western Town. It is located off Highway 101 near Agoura Hills. Take the Kanan Road or Cornell Road exit off Highway 101. There are State guides who will give demonstrations of movie making and props kids can enjoy just like the movies. The surrounding area has rolling hills and during the Summer it gets pretty hot. So, dress accordingly and if you plan to visit Malibu Lake a short drive away, bring a lunch and enjoy the hundreds of wild birds and flowers. The walk around Paramount Ranch is friendly to Seniors and children. There is plenty to do for all ages at Paramount Ranch.
