Google Trends is a very powerful tool to view what it is that people out there are looking for on the Internet. If you are a blogger or a writer, you are more than likely always looking to write about things that people will want to see. If you are a blogger or writer and you aren't looking to write about things that people want to read, then you likely aren't doing well and you are in the wrong business. For those who are serious about wanting to have their work seen, Google Trends can be huge help.

Google Trends has two very important tools for bloggers and writers. The first is the hot trends feature. Hot trends was just implemented on March 15, 2007 and its popularity has soared in the past few months. Hot trends shows the 100 most searched for topics of the past hour. The feature also provides a 24 hour graph of the search volume of that particularly keyword as well as blog and news posts about that topic. When looking at the Google Trends top 100 list you can also see at the top left of your page the last time the top 100 search words were updated. These are generally updated every hour, so the information is always fresh and relevant. One of the best parts about the Hot Trends service is that when you click one of the keywords you can also see related searches. This is an absolute must for bloggers and writers to use, as it can really help bring traffic to your work. By clicking on the individual keyword you find the related searches, some of which may have incorrect spelling. For example, as I type this one of the hot keywords is Helen Keller. As I look at the related searches I see that one of the popular related searches is "Hellen Keller." Clearly this isn't the correct spelling, but the truth is there are quite a few bad spellers out there in the world. Tagging your specific blogs or articles with incorrect spellings and/or any of the related keywords can be very profitable!
