I am not perfect. And though I could be wrong, I believe that humans are inherently bad because we are born into a world of sin that perpetuates itself such that we become part of the misery and evil. I am hesitant to use the word “evil” because I do not think every person is evil. From a Christian standpoint, Creation was made to be and is Perfect. Even humans were intended to be perfect, and we are to the extent that everything God made is perfect, but sin drew humans into the dark chasm of misery that we now experience. All this to say: humans can be good. We have the capability to be good. We also have the capability to be evil and to commit numerous atrocities. The matter all lies in our decisions. We fail all the time because we lose sight of God’s plan and glory. God does not make bad things happen to good people; sin does. God allows bad things to happen because if he otherwise controlled everything, then He’d be controlling us like we’re robots. He gave us free will; free will allowed for sin and misery to enter the world; and the entrance of sin is why bad things happen to good people (and, to bad people).
