I think I came out of the womb being a bargain hunter! Yes, bargain hunting is definitely in my DNA. When it comes to hunting for bargains, I am very similar to the US Mail. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night ever keeps me from hunting for a bargain! As a matter of fact, hunting for a good deal is just as much fun for me as purchasing the bargain items themselves. Recently, my Mom, awesome stepfather and I visited the, "DC Big Flea" located at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The, "DC Big Flea" takes place four times a year, during which time hundreds of vendors from various places nationwide sell a wonderfully wide variety of products. The, "DC Big Flea" offers everything from antiques to model trains to beautiful Chinese rugs. The, "DC Big Flea" is renowned for offering shoppers a uniquely terrific variety of products at bargain prices.
My mom raised me with a love for fleamarkets and bargains. We decided to brave the scorching heat because Mom was looking for a rug for our new sunroom. My mom taught me at an early age to appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that contribute to earning a dollar. Prior to visiting the, "DC Big Flea" my Mom spent a lot of money on a rug for our sunroom at a well-known retail store in our area which will remain nameless. Dissatisfied with both the very expensive price of the rug and its lack of quality, Mom was very unhappy with the rug. As a result, Mom returned the rug to the store where the rug had been purchased.
As a result of visiting the, "DC Big Flea" Mom found a vendor who sells rugs that are both of higher quality and much more reasonably priced than the retail store. In addition, I was happily surprised to see one of my former college professors at the fleamarket. He has been retired for several years and now runs an antiques restoration business.
