If you're about to take a trip to Florida near the Orlando area, you're probably planning to spend at least one day at one of the Disney theme parks. Perhaps you'll take in the Magic Kingdom, and show your kids the Cinderella Castle or the indoor roller coaster. Maybe you're more interested in Epcot Center, where you can experience many different countries in one day.

However, there is more to Florida than just Disney. Once you've spent a few days at Disney parks, you're ready for something else to do. This article will explore some different places you can visit to get a taste of what Florida has to offer.

1. Gatorland. Gatorland is a park with live alligators. It is a protected habitat that hosts gators, crocodiles, birds and bears. There is enough to do here to spend the entire day. You can even find barnyard animals and llamas located in this park. The admission cost is $23 for an adult but you can purchase tickets online at their website for $20. The price for children is $15. The park is located at 14501 South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, Florida. It is 15 minutes north of Disney on Highway 441, right above the Kissimmee-Orlando line in South Orlando. Gatorland is open from 9 am to 6 pm, so plan to arrive early to have enough time to see everything.

2. Kennedy Space Center. At the Kennedy Space Center, you can see where the rockets launch for space shuttle missions, and even see the launch pad sites from afar. You will learn about the history of space exploration as well as watch videos about space exploration. From the Orlando area, it takes about 90 minutes to reach Kennedy Space Center. Directions can be found on their website. The cost of admission is $40 for adults and $30 for children. This includes admission to the Astronaut Hall of Fame, located about five to ten minutes from the Kennedy Space Center. Children will find it interesting to see the space shuttles, and adults will enjoy learning about the space missions.
