Babies love books and you probably have several for your own child. The child will treasure these books when he or she is older, but there's a certain book you can make by yourself, and your child will treasure this book more than any other. Just knowing you made it will have your child holding on to it as a keepsake for years to come. A few used cd's will get you started with making the baby book. Each cd adds another page to the book so add as many or few as you wish. Purchase felt, in different colors or all one color, to finish the book.
Use the felt to cover each cd. Fold the felt piece in half and align the cd in the center of the felt. Cut around the cd, but when you get almost to where you started cutting, cut a small rectangular tab. These tabs will create a way for you to tie the pages together.
Glue the two felt pieces over the cd but do not put any glue between the tabs. Just make a circle of glue, next to the edge of the cd, and press the felt pieces together. Make as many pages as you wish then set them aside to dry.
When you're finished covering the cd's with felt stack them on top of one another. Cut two holes in each tab and thread ribbon through the holes. Take one end of the ribbon and push it upward through the stack of holes, then go downward, through the other set of holes, and bring the ends of the ribbon together, underneath the tabs. Tie the ribbon together and trim.
Now you'll create the subject matter of the book. The book can be simple with just magic marker writings and drawings, or can be detailed with shapes cut from fabric and felt, then glued onto the pages. You can also stitch different cloth or felt shapes to the book pages.
Most anything flat can become a page of the book. Glue on a small unbreakable mirror, create another page with lengths of colored ribbon attached, or another page that has a fluffy teddy bear. You'll find fabric that has animal images, baby images, or even lettering. Cut out the images, add a tiny bit of cotton behind it, and stitch or glue it to the pages.
