Saddam Hussein is dead

So what happens now?

Do we wait for the backlash to begin?

We answer violence with more violence

We respond to hatred with more hatred

Is it any more right to kill when we claim we have a purpose

that stems from a grandiose belief that we are better than everyone else?
Is it any more correct to kill with the belief that it's for the greater good?

Who are we to say what is right?

I am not going to say that I stood in support of the man

Nor will I even begin to defend his brand of evil

but lets face it, these tactics are not saved solely for people like Saddam Hussein

And I don't want any one's blood on my hands

Final justice is not going to be found in the bloodshed

Doled out in a war in the Middle East

And it certainly won't be given out by anyone alive on this earth today

And where did we get the notion that justice is only served as retribution for wrongs committed anyway?

It is meant to make things better for people in need,

people who have often been ignored or deemed inconsequential

like those who continue to be murdered and oppressed

all over the world even as we answer the call to violence instead of peace,
and as our leaders strive to regain popularity and notoriety
instead of doing what's right for everyone instead of only for themselves.

Where's the justice for the homeless and the hungry in America?

Where's the justice for the people of Darfur?

We wouldn't stop until Saddam paid for the genocide in his country

that took place two decades ago, but where's the justice for the people

of Rwanda who are dying from genocide today?

And how do we get to punish people for things they have done

when we knew about it while it was happening, but did nothing to stop it?

Are we any less criminal? Are we any less guilty through our negligence?

A word of warning has been given to the Bush family

to take cover for its own safety

Why does that even have to be necessary?

If we are so certain we are right in matters such as these

why do we ever have to take such precautions?

I can tell you why

Because it's the example we have set

We have glorified this behavior

What goes around comes around

And still we wonder why it continues
