Caesar Creek State Park is a sprawling state park in northern Ohio. Caesar Creek State Park encompasses almost 8000 acres of land and about 2800 acres of water. Caesar Creek Lake provides a number of recreational activities including boating, swimming, and fishing. The enormous amount of land in Caesar Creek State Park offers a lot of room for activities such as hiking, picnicking, fossil hunting, and camping. Caesar Creek State Park is a wonderful asset for those living in the Akron or Xenia Ohio area or in northeast Ohio in general. Caesar Creek State Park is a reasonable drive from Wheeling and Weirton, WV, Pittsburgh, PA, Youngstown and Columbus, OH. To get to Caesar Creek State Park, exit Interstate 71 onto SR 73 north and follow the signs.Caesar Creek Lake provides a great place for boating. Caesar Creek Lake offers boating with no horsepower limitation (of course there are no wake zones). Water skiing and riding jet skis are both popular at this large lake. Numerous boat ramps are located around the lake for boaters. The park office located off of SR 73 can provide more information on the locations of the ramps (two ramps are near to the park office, one just off of SR 73).
Caesar Creek Lake also provides great fishing for boaters and bank fisherman. With a lot of structure such as coves, small stream inlets, rocky outcroppings, and vegetation overhangs, Caesar Creek provides great habitat for a variety of fish. Walleye and saugeye are stocked by the state, but the primary game fish in the lake is still largemouth bass. Smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, carp, and catfish are also found in catchable numbers in Caesar Creek Lake. Early morning and late evening is the best time in my experience as the pleasure boaters and jet skis are not as prevalent making it a quieter experience. However, in my experience the wakes of boats slapping against the shore does not hurt the fishing, in fact it often seems to trigger more bites.
