How to Treat High Blood Pressure

As with all medical conditions, you must talk to your doctor. Everyone is different and everyone has different bodies. What might work for one person may not work for another. Each case is individual although this article is generalized. I have been on
high blood pressure medicine twice. The first time I took atenelol 25 mg half a pill a day. It was still too much medication for me. I couldn't wake up and sometimes I couldn't stay awake. This was the worst feeling ever.

I weaned myself off of the medicine and didn't have any problems after that for over three years. I was put back on high blood pressure medicine just recently and it has made me feel so much better. I have only been on it for a month. I am now taking 50 mg of metoprolol actually not quite because I only take 3/4 of a pill a day.

I know I am not in very good shape and I am going through a lot of stress and my body just doesn't know how to deal with it. So for the second time in my life I am on high blood pressure medicine. I have learned how to lower my blood pressure with out medication though. Once I am able to start these tips again I am sure I will be coming off of the medication.

The first thing you need to do is determine why you are on blood pressure medicine. If you are on blood pressure medicine because your heart needs it to function properly then chances are good you will never be able to come off of the medicine. If you can change what is causing you to be on blood pressure medicine then these tips may work for you.

1. Determine why you are on blood pressure medicine. Is stress causing your problems or is it weight related? If it's either of these reasons continue.

2. Sleep. The amount of sleep your body needs and your body gets may not be the same amount. If your body is telling you need more sleep or less sleep adjust your sleeping patterns.

3. Drink plenty of water. Water cleanses your body on the outside as well as the inside. Drink at least 64 oz. of water. The more water you drink the better.

4. Limit caffeine drinks and high sugar drinks. Too much caffeine will actually give you heart palpitations. You will get a boost of energy from soda or high sugar drinks but your heart may not need the boost.
