Miley Cyrus Appears on Good Morning America

Disney Channel's Miley Cyrus of Hannah Montana appeared on Good Morning America to promote her upcoming album Breakout. On Friday, Miley Cyrus performed three songs Fly on the Wall, 7 Things, and See You Again. An in-depth interview with Good Morning America will air on Tuesday. In previews of the Good Morning America segment, Disney's Miley Cyrus discussed how her life compared that of a normal teenager. She also discussed the pictures from Vanity Fair. In the clips that I saw, Miley Cyrus came across as poised and levelheaded. By appearing on Good Morning America, Miley Cyrus is showing grace under fire in face of the picture scandals.

Born in 1992, Disney Channel's Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley Cyrus catapulted to success with the debut of Hannah Montana in 2006. The show Hannah Montana portrays teenager Miley Stewart who moonlights as pop star Hannah Montana. In an example of life imitating art, Miley Cyrus has become a teen pop sensation, performing both as Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus.

Yet scandal surrounding the Vanity Fair photo shoot has soiled her squeaky clean Disney image. Although Miley Cyrus had been wrapped in a bed sheet, the pictures seemed to give an impression of her being topless. Although Miley Cyrus and photographer Annie Leibowitz had intended for the photos to represent simple classic artistry, parents were offended by the suggestive nature of the photos. Personally I didn't find anything offensive about the pictures. Some of my family members are portrait painters, so it is perfectly natural to work with scantily dressed or nude models. The only problems I had with the Vanity Fair photo shoot had to do with Miley Cyrus' age and the fact that her parents weren't there to supervise the photo shoot.
