It’s getting to be that time of year when the NFL is at its best. There are teams fighting for playoff position, players having huge games, and top card games coming down to the wire. It’s time to stop, take a deep breath, and check out the guys who are having huge seasons. These players, arguably the best in the NFL, perform at a high level week in and week out, leading their teams to the promise land. The question now is, who is the best? Who is the most valuable player in the national football league? Here are the top 5 most valuable player candidates through week 11…LaDainian Tomlinson - Wow. That one word can sum up what he is doing this year. Tomlinson is on pace to shatter the most touchdowns in a season record set by Shaun Alexander just last year. Through ten games, Tomlinson has some insane numbers; 1037 rushing yards, 451 receiving yards, and 22 total touchdowns. He is just six touchdowns away from the all time record of 28 set last year by Alexander, and he still has six games left to play. Week in and week out, LT is proving that he is among the league’s elite. With back to back four touchdown games, it is hard not to give Tomlinson the top spot 11 weeks into the season, not to mention, the Chargers are 8-2.
Peyton Manning - Doesn’t it seem like his name comes up on these lists every year? Well, he is that good, every year. Peyton is having himself another great season and until this past weekend, had led to Colts to another 9-0 record. His numbers are remarkable again; through 11 games he has passed for 2,781 yards with 20 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. He leads the league in QB Rating with a rating of 100.5. With the loss of Edge to the Cardinals, Peyton has had to carry a bit more of the load this season, and I’d say he is handling it well. His Colts look poised to make another run into the playoffs, will they get over the hump this year? We will see.
