No matter where you go, just mention Fisherman's Wharf and everyone knows where you are talking about. It is that famous, and yet it was only built in the 1960's. To gain such notoriety in that short a time is no small feat. So, what makes 12 million tourists visit san Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf each year? Sure, Fisherman's Wharf is famous for the view of Alcatraz, the most famous prison in the country, if not the world, but there is so much more. It would take more than a day to see everything there is to see. Lets take a virtual tour of Fisherman's Wharf and see what everyone is talking about.

Of course it is located right on the bay up in the North East corner of the City, near another famous location, Telegraph Hill.

First of all, why not stay right in Fisherman's Wharf? There are great restaurants, and the views of the Bay at night are nothing short of spectacular.

There is a Holiday Inn right there. There is a 24 hour Denny's restaurant right in the hotel and for relaxing they have an out door heated pool and a fitness center.

Now that you are settled in, get out and about. You do not have to walk all the time . There are many ways to get around, from cable cars to horse drawn carriages. And this is what they will take you to see.

Pier 39
This is where you will find all kinds of shops, over 110 of them, street performers and sea lions. You can also ride on the famous carousel and have breakfast or lunch, depending on how early you started out, at one of 11 full service restaurants.

Next stop in at The Cannery and visit the Maritime Museum.
If you can still move around after all the good food and shopping, make Ghirardelli Square your next stop. Of course there is more food and shopping available, but you have to stop in at the Ice Cream Parlor. Hot Fudge like no where else. After a stop here, you will have to walk around for sure. How about heading to the Wax Museum where you can walk off all the food in one place. It is over 100,000 sq feet and that measures out to a lot of steps.
