It is a debate going on about the e-cards. Is it right to sent an e-card to greet the Holidays? Like in many other questions, this one has many answers; I think e-cards are a fast, economic and easy way to congratulate some of those customers who are around but are not an essential part of our business. Or we can use them to congratulate that cousin of a third cousin who lives in the other side of the country. But, really, if we can spend a moment and a couple of pennies sending a handwritten Holidays postcard, we can be sure that the effect on the receiver will be much bigger. Our family deserves, on most of the cases, to receive a little piece of ourselves, and keep it if they want, put it close to their Christmas tree and look at it whenever they want. And what to say about Grandma, whose idea of computers is still traveling trough times, holding hands with ours about real milk just squeezed from the cow? If we really value our family, or our costumers, nothing better than send a real handwritten Holidays card.

But let us suppose we want to go for the e-cards. It is all right, these days Internet is full of different e-cards suppliers. E-cards started on the nineties, and Americangreetings.com was at the head of the train. Soon, everybody with Internet was using e-cards, they were surprising, and the novelty gave their users the look of a new techno expert.

Americangreetings.com is the biggest e-card company in Internet, and last year it bought its two stronger rivals, BlueMountain.com and Egreetings.com. They have thousands of models to choose from, the animated cards have an incredible quality, and customers can find there greeting e cards for every celebration they can think about: Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, Yom-Kippur, Ramadan, everything.

Ecardica.com shows an exhaustive holidays' calendar, with all kind of celebrations, from Cheese Day to Quit Smoking Day, even some to celebrate naughty Christmas.

123Greetings.com also has many to choose from, I liked a lot the Spanish ones, and the musical are hilarious. They have a good selection of Afro-American themed e-cards.

Takeaways
  • E-cards services started on Internet in 1990
