Ballroom Dancing for Everyone?

Ballroom Hype!

Unlike Personal Fitness Training, Golf, Tennis, Karate or other athletic hobby, Ballroom Dancing is an intimate and personal endeavor that almost always involves touching/holding another person.  I believe that it is because of this, that many people never
attempt to take lessons or pursue it even though it appeals to them on every level.  There is just something about partner dancing that makes us vulnerable and therefore reluctant to face embarassment.

These issues prevent many people from learning Ballroom Dancing because they are afraid to appear clumsy, or inadequate.  All of this can be overcome by the right Instructor.  A good Ballroom Instructor will have the latest and most comprehensive knowledge of all the dances, but most importantly will have the psychological skills to deliver the information in a fun, non-threatening way.

Not everyone is born with certain talent and rythmic ability, but learning a few Ballroom steps can improve an existing or developing relationship, no matter what level of ability one posseses.  Learning the proper hold (connection) with your partner can be very rewarding (both on and off the dancefloor!).  Every person started Ballroom Dancing from the beginning, and Instructors expect students to struggle at first, but then a gradual sense of accomplishment, confidence and joy soon emerges, and the student is hooked!

Starting your Ballroom experience with the right Instructor is essential to making a fair evaluation of Ballroom Dancing as a future hobby.  I am of the opinion that everyone can have fun Ballroom Dancing when it is approached in the most positive and encouraging  way.
