Global warming?
Excuse me, did you say global warming?
If you ask me what we are experiencing is more global cooling.

I do not know about your part of the world, but here in Toronto we are having awful weather.
Today is August 23 and people are dressed in pants and jackets. I even saw someone in a sweater. A sweater I am telling you!
It is the middle of summer, but it feels more like the middle of spring.

Wherever you go, people are complaining about the weather.
Whether it is here in Canada, or somewhere in Europe, the temperature is not what it should be.

To make matters worse, we had a really awful winter.
Cold, windy, wet, and with so much snow, bulldozers had to come and remove the mess.
We all so looked forward to the warmer months. But where are the warmer months? March was a disappointment; so was April; as was May.

But hey June was upon us and now it would start to get better, right?
Wrong, temperatures were far below what they should have been.

Contrary to other years we had a very early winter.
Other years it is cold in November and December, but it remains dry. Snow and ice only start in January.
The past winter was different.

The first snow fell in mid November. I remember it very well, as my son his birthday is November 8, and it started snowing a few days later.
Everybody was just outraged. It was only November and it started already!

From then on we got snow, snow and more snow. We got it in November, we got it in December, and we got it in the first four months of the new year.
We were all sick of it.
So please, do not talk to me about global warming.

On the other hand, I hear from people down south how lovely the weather is.
Their summers are nice and warm and the winters are quite mild. I believe someone said that the temperature where she lives never goes below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
I do not know about you, but that sounds lovely to me.

Whenever I read about the state of world it never fails to make me angry that this generation makes such a big fuss about all sorts of things.
Global warming, dirty water, overpopulation ... it is always something.

Yeah Conny, people are whiners. Life has been so easy for so long for most peeps, that it's easy to complain. I must correct one thing though - it's not just the Baby Boomers, of which at 51, I am one. The Baby Boomers were the ones who started addressing these issues. The pollution, etc. was largely generated by the previous generations. No Baby Boomer had the right to vote before the 1968 presidential election. The EPA came into being in the late 60's or early 70's, when my contemporaries are the ones who started the Green movements. Good article though.

I agree with you; it seems here too global cooling. We had terrible weather and much rain. At the end of the week we expect a few hot days but in general the summer has until now only a few good days.
