Get a 5th Gen 30 GB IPod for $130
Woot.com Has Great Deals Daily, but Keep in Mind You Have Only a Few Hours to Buy
The fifth generation iPod with video is on sale today (July 24) for about $130.Considering I once shelled out $250 for this now obsolete Apple product, the deal is not that bad.
Where can you find this great bargain? Look no further than woot.com, your source for fantastic prices on gizmos and gadgets of all
Get a 5th Gen 30 GB IPod for $130
Woot.com works like this: every day, the Web site features one product at a fairly reduced price - well, two products, really, if you count its sister site sellout.woot.com, which has partnered with Yahoo! Shopping (a refreshing instance of business for Yahoo!, since all off the drama from their botched negotiations with Microsoft).
The two pages, aptly titled "Today's Woot," include a photo of the products offered and a list of features and specifications for each. The pages list everything you get with your order - so in the iPod's case, you snag headphones and a data cable as well, just as if you bought it at your shiny neighborhood Apple store.
Meanwhile, at sellout.woot.com, you'll find an "iFlip player thingy" on sale for a measly 30 bucks.
The blog posts that accompany the features are hilarious, weaving together the products' specs with a love story between the two gadgets, destined to be together. I found the marketing here to be rather clever and cute, if not just a smidgen corny. But seeing as I already have a 30 GB iPod (sorry, iRomeo, I have one of my own), I'd love to order a Memorex iFlip.
By the way - did I mention shipping for both respective products is only $5? That, my friends, is a great deal.
The only catch is that this is only featured for a single day - that's how Woot works. So when you find a deal on either woot.com or sellout.woot.com, act fast.
But what's the better buy: a brand-new iPod Nano that's selling for $10 more, or an older, regular video iPod?
Considering that the new Nano only stores up to 8 GB of music and video (and that's if you pay for the $199 version), I'd go for the Woot's generous offering. But if you have an additional $115 to spare, then sure, splurge for a brand-new 80 GB iPod classic.
