Product Review: Motorola W376g Tracfone Camera Cell Phone

32
Tracfone is, according to their website, the most famous prepaid cell phone provider in the nation. First known for offering cell phones sans contract, Tracfone was unfortunately plagued by poor phone options. The majority of the phone option were clunky, style-less Nokia's that, while offering very nice battery life and reception, were ugly and lacked the snazzy features many were wanting in a phone.

That all changed several months ago when Tracfone introduced their first Motorola phone, the W370. Featuring a thin(ish) body, a bright screen, and the familiar Razr-style, the phone introduced Tracfone to a new market of younger people.

Skipping ahead in time, Tracfone now offers the third generation of this popular Tracfone, the W376g. The W376g is another landmark for Tracfone - this Moto is the first cell phone in their product line to offer Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.

But is it worth the price, or is this just a gimmick phone to get more subscribers? Read on to find out.

Phone Build

This phone is very durable and solid feeling in the hand. I've dropped it from pocket-height to the asphalt of a road and it still functioned perfectly fine (though the case did get a few minor scuffs). The screen on this phone is also very durable, with a nice deep plastic cover over it and a solid backing, making it difficult to crack.

The front of the phone doesn't have a display - it instead has a unit hidden LED picture panel. The front appears to be solid plastic, but when a calls, text message, or voice message is received, a picture will appear over the plastic of different colors/images to indicate what's happening. Very unique and visually appealing.

The design appears like a cross between the Razr and Krazr. There's a volume control on the left side of the phone, a headphone port on the bottom right, and a mini-USB/charger port on the bottom left, both of which are covered by a gray rubber plug.
