It seems to happen every year about this time. Right after Halloween you start to see the aisles at the department and discount stores start to change. Little flashes of red, gold, and green glint in the corner of your eye as you head towards the housewares department. When you get home, your mailbox is filled with catalogs. Everything slowly builds until suddenly you’re sitting there with family members that you haven’t seen for almost a year at a table laden with food. You wonder why they are here at your house and then realize that it’s Thanksgiving. The holidays or maybe holi-daze are upon us! Where did the time go? It seems like only yesterday you were rubbing on the sun block and getting ready to go to a Cardinal’s baseball game. For those of you who think that the holidays arrive too fast each year and you are having a little trouble getting into the mood and the short, dark, and dreary days are aggravating your Seasonal Affective Disorder, then maybe you just need a little light in your life. It’s time to see the Christmas light displays. Here are some of the best ones going on around town:

Every year, Jellystone Park, located next door to Six Flags in Eureka, Mo., undergoes a magical transformation to become the 2 million-light strong Santa’s Magical Kingdom. Mischievous elves, flying reindeer, and two…count ‘em…two drive-through tunnels of lights make this a must-see destination on the Christmas lights map. The park is open 5:30-10:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and open a little later, till 11:00 p.m. on the weekends. The price is $16 per car with mini vans and commercial passenger vans coming in at $30.

Takeaways
  • Jellystone Park has over two million lights.
  • Anheuser-Busch features over a million lights and a 60-foot-tall tree with gold lights.
  • Old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage rides are available at Tilles County Park.
Did You Know?
"Jingle Bells" seems to be the most popular Christmas carol sung by animals. Dogs, chipmunks, and frogs are among the animals that have recorded it.

Good suggestions. One of my family favorites was always Our Lady of Snows.
