Our family has a family reunion every year and we use the white elephant "sale" to raise money to fund our next event.  The "white elephant" sale is the most humorous part of our gathering. 5. A family scrap book-  A plain scrapbook can be purchased for about 15-20 dollars. A fun twist on this book is to start one page about your family and then pass it on. Each year the book can be added to by different families. Then it becomes something sentimental and fun.  It is also a great way to learn about distant relatives that you don't really know very well.

4. Quilt Patches- Creating a family quilt can be very rewarding.  Each member can contribute a patch and then attach it to their own and continue to pass the pieces on every year. Quilt patches are a great white elephant gift because they can be individualized and they are very inexpensive to put together.  You can use scanned photos, mermoribilia, and much more to create your unique patch. Include a note so people will know what you are trying to accomplish with the piece.

Who would expect to get a box of toilet paper as a white elephant gift? Our family almost always wraps some sort of prank item for some unexpecting family member to open.  

2. Pictures-  Capture someone at your next reunion doing something funny or unexpected. Do not tell them you are taking the picture. Be sneaky and then blow it up for the next year's reunion.
