What Christmas tradition you can establish for your family, do it year after year, and still be one of the favorite Holidays activities for everybody? Going to the Christmas Lights shows! We have very nice Christmas Lights shows in the Northwest, and we like to visit all of them even if is raining, snowing, or storming crazily (that are good possibilities in this region). Washington has an old Christmas lights tradition, and at the Tacoma area, we enjoy plenty of shows every year.
In Lakewood, we light a huge Christmas tree at the City Hall 1 December, with a fun show that goes from 4 to seven at night. Santa visits, of course, and everybody takes pictures, and children go crazy trying to speak with him and ask for their gifts.
Close from Lakewood is Steilacoom, and they also start their Christmas lightening a tree at the Town Hall, and Santa has time to come from Lakewood because this is in the second day of December. You cannot forget to go to the Christmas 1859 Recreation at FortSteilacoom, and tour the Candle and Lantern Lit, with people dressed with époque clothes.
Very spectacular is the Christmas lights show in the Tacoma Zoo, the Zoolights. The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium hosts a big display of animal lights, kids have special visit from some of the animals living in the Zoo, and have some good pictures taken with them. They show also replicas of our important landmarks, and the nursery rhyme characters are delightful. This show goes from November 24 to January 1.
Another big Christmas lights show in the area is the Annual Fantasy Lights at SpanawayPark, in Spanaway, from 23 November to 31 of December. This is a two miles drive around a three hundred displays of beautiful Christmas lights. Everybody loves it, because you can enjoy the lights from the warmth of your car. The ticket price is 13 dollars for car, and 45 for bus. Pack the car with family and friends and have fun.
If you do not mind to drive more far, you can enjoy the different light shows in Seattle. One of the favorites is at the QueenAnneCenter, at the ChildrenMuseum's Festival of Lights children can learn about different cultures and Holidays celebrations.
