There are only a couple of luxuries in which my husband and I indulge ourselves now that neither of us are working our high powered and even higher paying jobs. One is the threater. The other is eating out at least a couple of times a month. Recently, we decided to try one of the Virginia Peninsula’s newer restaurants - - Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

Carrabba’s is only open for dinner during the week, so we went early to avoid the evening rush. The atmosphere was charming. We were greeted at the door by a smiling hostess. She asked all the appropriate questions to make certain we would be seated comfortably. She gave us our menus, told us about the daily specials, and assured us that our waitress would be by shortly. She was correct. Our waitress quickly took our drink orders and answered our questions about the menu.
We opted to order a combo dish to share. It featured Chicken Bryan, Polla Rosa Maria, and Chicken Marsala. Chicken Bryan is a grilled chicken breast topped with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, and a basil lemon butter sauce. Polla Rosa Maria is a grilled chicken breast stuffed with fontina cheese and prosciutto, topped with mushrooms and a basil lemon butter sauce. Chicken Marsala is a grilled chicken breast topped with mushrooms, prosciutto and Carrabba’s special Lombardo Marsala wine sauce. The meal came with a fresh green salad and a choice of garlic mashed potatoes, spaghetti pomadora, cavatappi amatriciana or the vegetable of the day and fresh hot bread.
