Appear Thinner in Photos
Tricks that Will Make You Look Slimmer and Skinnier in Photos
They say the camera adds ten pounds. Well, a new HP camera claims to remove ten pounds! The HP R-927 digital camera has a "slimming" option that stretches the photo, making people - and objects - appear more slender.Does it work? Most people seem to think the camera does a good job of creating the illusion of a more slender body. But what should you do if you - or the photographer - doesn't own the HP
Fortunately, you don't have to simply accept that the camera will make you appear a little bit shorter and a little bit wider. Instead, try these tips so your pose for the camera always shows your most flattering side:
Stand sideways: Stand with your body slightly angled toward the camera. Sideways is good, but you don't need to be completely perpendicular to the lens. Any angle to your body will help make you appear slimmer. The foot closest to the camera should have the toes pointed almost directly at the photographer. This will create a more slender line for your leg.
Hold out your arms: You don't have to actually hold them out from your sides, like a windmill. But pose them so your upper arms are not pressed against your torso. For example, consider putting your hands on your hips. This allows your arm to rest naturally, making it appear thinner. If it were pressed against your body, it would widen and flatten, which gives the appearance of fat in a photo.
Look down: Worried about a double chin? Thrust out your chin just a little bit, then tilt your head downwards. It may seem counterintuitive - a downward angle usually only increases the prominence of a double chin - but your face will actually hide your double chin from the camera's view. Look up through your lashes to make eye contact with the camera lens.
Use props: If you have a particular body part that makes you self-conscious, use props to hide it. A purse or handbag can camouflage a belly pooch. A long skirt can hide heavy thighs. Even other people can be used as props. If you think your arms are chubby, wrap them around your friends' backs so they're hidden from view.
