I was so interested in the hanging baskets of flowers that I didn't even see the big English bulldog coming at me at a fast speed. One minute I was admiring a hanging basket of flowers, and the next moment I was on the ground with a 60-pound English bulldog standing over me. We were nose to nose for a second before I felt his wet tongue on my cheek in a happy greeting.

As soon as I was on my feet again, I directed some choice words of aggravation at my English bulldog, Samson. He sat back on his hind end and watched me with a puzzled look on his face. It was as if he were saying, "now what did I do to upset you?"

The demand and the price for English bulldog puppies are at an all time high. An English Bulldog will start at around eighteen hundred dollars, and go up from there. Because of the money involved, there are many scammers waiting to take advantage of you. The schemes are as numerous as the people who think them up.

Here are few frauds that seem to come and go on the internet and in newspapers. Educate yourself before even thinking of sending a large amount of money to a stranger.

Never buy a puppy until you have talked several times with the seller by phone. There should also be phone conversations throughout the transaction.

A bulldog for $500

This is a big internet swindle. You send money and when you go to the airport to pick up your dog, there is no puppy there. These people usually do not have a web site with pictures and phone numbers. You want to make sure that this party does not get your phone number

Airport pickup

If your puppy is shipped by plane, you will have to pick it up at the airport. You can suspect a scam if you are promised delivery of a puppy to your door.
