Milwaukee, WI November 20 2006 — Tracy L. Coenen, CPA, MBA, CFE, a nationally-recognized fraud examiner and expert witness, has developed a website to educate and inform the public about the Mary Kay Cosmetics business opportunity. Pink Truth (www.pinktruth.com) has quickly become a valued resource to hundreds of thousands of women around the world.

Coenen, a highly credentialed and experienced fraud investigator, is utilizing her expertise on fraud to reach out to current and former independent representatives of Mary Kay. Widely-available internet access has made information and opinions shared by these representatives available to women considering becoming independent beauty consultants.

As a former member of Mary Kay's independent sales force, Coenen has first-hand experience with the abuses that occur in multi-level marketing companies like Mary Kay. Typical abuses in MLM companies can include incomplete information given during the recruiting process, unsubstantiated earnings claims, and pushing large quantities of inventory on new recruits.

"The site is aimed at putting information in the hands of those who need it most: those who are considering signing up and those who are struggling with their Mary Kay businesses," said Coenen. "This is a rapidly growing public awareness campaign to give women access to potentially negative information about the Mary Kay business opportunity. Women deserve to know the truth about their chances of success, the typical earnings of a beauty consultant, and the realities related to recruiting new members."

As the visibility of the site expands, Mary Kay's corporate executives have taken note, even advising high-level members of the independent sales force to discourage members of their downlines from visiting the website. Coenen has received hundreds of emails thanking her for the positive impact the website has had, and she intends to continue providing information about the Mary Kay opportunity so that women around the world can make well-informed decisions.

Hi Paula....I am really sorry that your daughter experienced Mary Kay in that way. There are people in EVERY organization who do not work with impeccable standards or work ethic and obviously this is one. I am a director in Mary Kay and I must tell you that 16 years with the company has allowed me to see both sides. Your daughter obviously was of age to make an informed decision. The problem it sounds to me is that it was not an "informed" decision. All I do ask as a business owner with Mary Kay is ladies please STOP generalizing that ALL DIRECTORS and CONSULTANTS and the COMPANY supports this behavior. The company does not and Mary Kay Ash would NEVER support it and neither do MANY directors and consultants. Generalizing is dangerous slander!

okay pink chick. On what facts are you basing your discovery on. Last time I checked.....consultants receive the same 50% as any director does and have the same opportunity to earn commissions from the company. Consultants who don't work....don't make money. How long would it take for you to not show up to work before you got fired!! Personally, what happens is consultants fire themselves and then blame others so they can justify their behavior. Time has come for the CEO of the company to say...Oops! I did not do my job.

I find it very interesting that the people who are doing all the complaining on the sites are the ones who have decided NOT to work their businesses with the same dedication they would give working for someone else. I believe what happens is people are used to having someone else run their schedules all their lives for them and when they begin an independant business like Mary Kay they don't work because they don't have someone telling them to get up and get to work or else....so they don't work and then it is everybody elses fault for their bad decisions. Last time I checked no one has held a gun to any consultants head to order inventory and how much. Suggestions given? Absolutely! But come on now, it's time for you girls to grow up, suck it up and take responsibility. BIG GIRLS DON"T CRY!

I am the mother of a college student. The recruiter that lured my daughter in... well lets just say was not honest or looking out for the best interest of anyone but herself. The recuiter went as far as to apply for a credit card and "helped" her buy more product than was reasonable or responsible. She took advantage of my daughter's youth and inexperience as well feeding her exagerated stories as to what she could expect as a MaryKay consultant. This recruiter had a feeding frenzy at the expense of these young students. I'm angry and wish there was a way to recoop her losses as we still sit on tons of product and a huge credit card bill that the company has stuck her with.

I have been in Mary Kay for 1 year. I love my job, and I'm not a Director yet! I love Mary Kay and everything that it stands for. The only people that don't succeed are people that want to work for other people. I don't know about you ladies, but I love being my own boss. If you work your business the way that you are supposed to, you will be successful. In the next 10yrs. 60% of America will have their own business. It is up to you to decide "Do you want to tell yourself what to do", or do you want someone else to tell you what to do. The choice is yours.

The only ones making money are Directors and above. They take advantage of their downline and lie frontwards and backwards to get where they are. It is a crime.

LOL! Very nice turnaround! (ex-Mary Kay "consultant") And yes, it's about time someone told the world about it.
