I can remember my freshmen year in college.  All the hype seemed to be about joining a sorority.   Rarely did you hear students talk of the classes they were going to take or what they wanted to do after they graduated.  The time finally came to pledge.  You had to have so many credits or be in sophmore status.   Orientation was the highlight of the campus.  The "rush"  followed shortly after.  You could tell those who were participating from those who could have cared less.  Several months went by.  The students that did not make the sorority or fraternity were very obvious and easily identified.  I actually felt bad for the ones that did not make the cut.  I couldn't believe that one of the students pledged again the next semester.   What was she thinking? If they did not like "Jane Doe" from the first rush, I don't believe that "Jane Doe" was going to be picked the second time around.  And she wasn't.!  The rejection was quite devestating to her!  She told me and I could do nothing but comfort her.

Just how desperate are we for acceptance?  What price will we pay for acceptance?  Are you willing to risk unfortunate factors that may happen?  Love and respect yourself first, then others will too!

Does wanting to join a sorority or fraternity mean you're looking for approval or just want to stand out among the crowd?
What do u think?

I don't look at anything just because of 'what it seems.' Frats and Soros are very beneficial to our people because of future networking opportunities and possible job advantages. Please tell me you saw "Stomp the Yard" That movie was phenominal and it also sjowed you the legacy and many of our greatest leaders that were frat bors or soro sisters! All the stuff that the media highlights on needs to be checked off the list of reasons why people like to join frats. Trust me, they are worth it!
