POETRY: The Truest Lover

The Truest Lover

All along you decided what brought joy
or furrowed your brow with pain.
You were taught to play in the sunshine
and run in when came the rain.

Then for the first time
in three and forty years' seasons
finally met Day's and Night's Edges,
and for no apparent reasons.

Whilst you rested comfortably
on the breast of your heart's desire,
the Eyes of Truth befell your life

and began your fate to conspire.

And then the sun went out
and the sky then turned to gray.
Blood-bond friends pledged for life
had suddenly slipped away.

In broad daylight cats would bark
and a dog clucked like a hare.
Horses flew backwards at nightfall
and the round moon became a square.

Fish would yearn for dry sand dunes
and a rich man begs for change.
For that which you once thought so normal
has suddenly become so strange.

Dethroned, cast down...

Empress, Emperor --
This you were all along.
You were told what was to be called beautiful.
You were taught what it was "to be strong".

When comes that time
when Fate uproots Your Beloved Kingdom.
Renders You poor and friendless
leaves You nothing but your Freedom.

Then still Your thoughts, beckon sublime and bliss.
Your laughter will be your New Crown, and
Your Freedom, sweet sweet Freedom,
will be Your Truest Lover's Kiss.
