Planning a birthday party with a soccer theme? Want to stick to a budget that will still allow presents galore? Well, one of my best suggestions is to check out the Wilton Soccer Collection. Not only will you save money making your soccer ball cake and cupcakes but you will be able to get almost everything you need for the event. Of course you will need to buy cake mix and make or buy frosting or icing but that's a minimal cost. The soccer theme is popular not just for birthday parties but for team events, fund raisers and a season wrap up. If you are in to one stop shopping then this theme was made for you. The most expensive item is the Soccer Ball Baking Pan (2105-2044); at $12.99 this might seem like a lot to pay but you can use it for other things like the earth, a globe, golf ball, basketball or even a smiley face. It is easy to make, requires only one box of cake mix and can be decorated in under thirty minutes even if you have little or no decorating experience. You can opt to use the plastic figures in the Wilton Soccer Set (2113-9002); for about three dollars you get seven plastic players and two goals. This is a quick way to decorate a sheet cake or to use on the soccer shaped cake. Another option is the Wilton Soccer Candle Set (2811-8421) that adds a nice festive and colorful look to anything you add it to.
If you are in to candy making then you will love the larger size of the Sports Lollipop Mold (2115-4432). This has four designs to it; baseball, soccer, football and basketball. While this mold is better for a general sports themed even, you can make up a few of the soccer balls for decoration or to use on a teat table. For a quick cupcake solution you can grab a package of the Soccer Cupcake Liners (415-296); there are 50 to a package and most stores sell them for less than two dollars. You can frost them any color you like so they match up to the soccer themed cake or the green of a sheet cake. This is an updated version of the soccer design for the cupcakes so if you are shopping at a retail store and see one with a slightly different product number or look, that's why.
