No other video game company has the same amount of iconic figures as Nintendo does. From saving the industry from crashing to one innovation after another, the excellence of Nintendo cannot be matched. Across many systems throughout the years, these mascot-driven games still remain fresh
and entertaining. Here are the five best video game franchises from Nintendo.
5. Kirby
By himself, Kirby is nothing special. It is when he swallows his enemies that the magic behind his games appears. Kirby can copy his enemies' abilities by eating them. Doing so will open up many gameplay possibilities, from freezing your enemies to turning to a 1,000 pounds statue. Despite lacking in difficulty, the Kirby franchise always provides plenty of entertaining scenarios.
4. Metroid
In 2D, the Metroid franchise set the precedent for what an intense action-adventure game should be. The 3D Metroid Prime franchise wasn't all that bad either as it created a new genre for video games: first-person adventure. Out of all these innovations, however, this Nintendo franchise is famous for one breakthrough: it was the first game to feature a prominent female lead with Samus Aran.
3. Super Smash Bros.
Can't figure out which Nintendo franchise is the best? Then have the mascots duke it out themselves. The Super Smash Bros. is a dream game for Nintendo fans that experienced part or all of the 20 years of classic games for the company. The games play like a dream too with its simple but ultra-addicting approach to fighting. Add in a bucket load of nostalgia and you have yourself the ultimate crossover video game franchise.
2. The Legend of Zelda
The Legend of Zelda franchise is all about exploration. The games will constantly surprise you around every corner with stunning scenery, cool equipment, creative puzzles and exciting combat. Each game in the franchise, especially the 3D ones, is as epic in scale as any video game can be. Not to mention this Nintendo franchise is home to what many considered to be the greatest game ever made, Ocarina of Time. The Legend of Zelda is the most consistent franchise Nintendo has to offer.
