Becoming the Next Food Network Star

Has any one ever come up to you and told you to bring down the energy level just a notch when in the kitchen? If so, there may be an opportunity just around the corner to have your very own Food Network show. Imagine turning on the television and your face is on it and everybody around the world knows who you are. Going from fry cook to TV personality so fast can make anyone's head spin. For some people this is becoming a reality. The "Next Food Network Star" is a television show that contestants compete for a crack at their own television show on the Food Network.

Scripps Network is the company that owns Food Network as well as Fine Living, HGTV, DIY, and Great American Country. Producers are giving everyday cooks all around the country the chance of a lifetime, and all they have to do is out last the other players. Seems simple enough and it all starts with an audition tape. After they have a few tapes together, the public get a chance to vote on their favorite person to move on to the next round.

So what exactly makes the Next Food Network Star? How about energetic, lively personalities that can captivate an audience and keep them coming back for more. Cooking shows have become much more than a means to learn how to filet a flounder in under a minute. It is more about the entertainment aspect of our culture. The American culture takes cooking and eating to a whole new level and enjoys seeing food in action. Watching a favorite TV chef boil water now becomes just as exciting as watching a new drama series. Dinner theater has become a form of entertainment that engages a play and dinner. I wonder why the word "dinner is first".

There is a great sense of accomplishment by just getting in the finalist spot. This is where we see them on the television competing for the grand prize. Just appearing on TV means that the person has made it through the auditions and the many people voting on their favorite. Just getting to that moment is a reward in itself.
