Fly Cheap at Midway Airport

Chicago Midway airport is a much more relaxed experience than those travelers who have been through Chicago O'Hare airport. Midway allows you to slow down and just get through the airport with less people. Midway also has much cheaper flights and is less likely to be affected by the Chicago weather.

Chicago Midway is used mostly by low cost carriers. These include airlines such as Southwest and AirTran. Southwest has 29 out of Midway's 43 gates. AirTran controls five more while Delta and several other carriers have a couple gates a piece. Midway airport also has one of the lowest wait times at security checkpoints. You usually will not have to wait more than five minutes to get through the entire security checkpoint process. Midway has won an award from J.D. Power and Associates for having the best customer service of an airport in 2008. Midway has also seen the number of flights that arrive on time increase since 2006.

Midway is a very unique airport. The Orange line runs right up to the airport and you can even get on a train in between the terminals. This allows you to get to the other side of the airport in a matter of a couple minutes instead of taking a time consuming bus in between the terminals. Midway airport used to be the busiest airport in the world. However, after many of the legacy carriers moved on to different airports Midway fell into the hands of many different airlines. Midway is one of the most affordable airports as well because you can ride the Orange L line right to the airport and save the cost of airport parking. You can also get on a very cheap flight with one of the discount carriers and even the airport stores are cheaper than those you would find at O'Hare.

Midway airport allows people who want to fly, but don't think they can afford it, to be able to afford to fly. The low cost of going to Midway combined with most of its service being provided by low cost carriers allow people who want to fly at a low price to do so.
