Pet Care (various home remedies)

To remove pet hair from fabric:

1.) Put on a damp rubber glove and wipe. This works on clothes, furniture, carpet, etc.

2.) Wrap tape around hand, sticky side out, and pat on fabric.

Some common ingredients to stock up on if you own a cat or a dog are baking soda, white vinegar, and blue Dawn dish soap. There are several home made recipes using these things that can treat or cure several problems.

To remove odors and stains from carpet or furniture:

1.) Soak up as much moisture as possible. This can be done using old towels or t-shirts, and diapers work well also. (No, you can't put the diapers on your pet.) Stand on the absorbent material for about 5 minutes to use your own weight in aid to absorbing the moisture, and then sprinkle the area with baking soda. Let it sit overnight, and vacuum in the morning. Finish by mixing 2 cups white vinegar with a gallon of water and wash the area.

2.) Mix 15 oz. hydrogen peroxide, 2 teaspoons baking soda, and a few drops of blue Dawn. Pour slowly onto soiled area and allow it to dry. If any residue is left, wipe it with some water on a clean sponge.

To clean ears: Mix 1/3 rubbing alcohol, 1/3 white vinegar, and 1/3 water then store it in a dropper bottle. Massage a few drops in a circular motion into each ear while holding the animals head tipped to the side, then wipe with a tissue.

Treating fleas:

1.) A bath, washing with blue Dawn can greatly decrease fleas on a dog or cat.

2.) Several hours before bathing a dog, dust his coat with baking soda. This will kill a lot of fleas, and odor as well.

To make coats shine:

1.) As long as it's not overdone, eggs can give your dog or cats fur a healthy shine.

2.) Mix ½ cup vinegar in a quart of water and spray it onto the coat for a quick shine.

To reduce odor in cat litter: Save money and buy cheap cat litter. By mixing in a box of baking soda, you eliminate odor and it is easier to clean, as well as easier on your wallet.
