Photoshop Effects - How to Create Mountain Text Effects

I was playing around in a Photoshop and came up with this cool looking text effect. Right off the bat, it reminded me of mountains. So that is why I named it Mountain Text. Please look at the image that I have provided to see the ending results. In this
tutorial I will show you how to create the Mountain Text Effect in Photoshop.

How to Create Mountain Text Effects in Photoshop

Step 1

The first step is to open your Photoshop program. Once your program has finished loading, you will need to create a new file. Click File > New at the top of your Photoshop window to create a new file. When the New File box appears, make your canvas about 400 pixels x 400 pixels. Select a white background. Then click OK.

Step 2

Now you will see your New Canvas in your Photoshop program. Click on the Type Tool in your toolbar. Draw you a rectangle across your canvas large enough for you to type what you want in it. Once you have drawn your rectangle, click inside the rectangle. Now you will need to change your text options at the top of your Photoshop window before continuing. I used the following values for my effect.

Font – Broadway BT
Font Size – 90pt
Font Color - # b0460f

Once you have finished with the text options begin writing on your canvas.

Step 3

Now you will need to Resaterize your Text Layer. If you don’t know how to do that please follow these instructions. Locate your Layers Panel. If you don’t see your Layers Panel, click Window > Layers at the top of your Photoshop window. Now you should see your Layers Panel on the right side of your screen. You will see two layers in your layers panel, Background and Layer 1. Right click one time on Layer 1 and click Resaterize Type in the pop up box.

Step 4

Right click on the same layer again and click on Blending Options. The Blending Options dialog box will appear. In this box is where you will apply all the effects to make the text look like Mountains. Keep this box open until I tell you to click OK.

Click on the word Drop Shadow. You will see the drop shadow options on the right side of the box. Enter the following Values in the fields.
