She's beautiful, wise and irresistibly powerful. She's arguably the most famous super heroine of them all. She's also a Goddess.

She's Wonder Woman.

In a blaze of patriotic glory, she burst onto the scene in 1941, swiftly becoming a truly lasting icon of the comic book world; a figure of serene beauty that every child can name and whom every adult recognizes. In addition, she's one of the founding members of the super hero group, The Justice League. As Princess Diana, she's royalty and a mere step away from leading the Amazon Warrior Women on Paradise Island. In the 1970's, Lynda Carter played her in a hit TV series that forever cemented Wonder Woman's reputation in pop culture. Now, Joss Whedon of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer fame is writing and directing a big Wonder Woman feature film.

But just how well would Wonder Woman fare against other Wonder Women of sci-fi and fantasy? I'm talking about other female icons of comics, TV and movies; those who personify feminine fierceness, which inevitably attract men and whom women greatly admire. Other super powered women may not be immortals or Goddesses, but they certainly pack their own powerful punch. Granted, it may not always be a fair competition, but it's intriguing to weigh the possibilities.

Let's use our imaginations, breaking the bonds of time, space and context to examine fights of fantasy that can never happen, but would be cool to see come true. Indeed, if sports fans can have their fantasy match-ups and dream leagues, so can comic book fans!

For our purposes, we'll use a 5 GOLDEN LASSO SYSTEM.
5 being the highest, 1 lasso for little to no chance.

COMICS CORNER

Supergirl 5 Lassos

If Wonder Woman reigns as Queen of all comic book heroines, then the reigning princess must be Supergirl. Kal El'sKryptonian cousin, she swooped down into our lives in 1958. Supergirl of nearly any of the other super powered gals would be able to match Wonder Woman in the strength category, perhaps even surpassing the Amazonian's vast physical power. Supergirl is vulnerable to magic, so Wonder Woman's magical capabilities there would give her an edge.

Beyonce would make a good wonderwoman. And, she could sing upbeat songs during her chases then go into her "Crazy in Love" booty hop when the bad guy is caught. 'Uhh ohh, uhh ohh, uhh ohh, oh no no!'

I thinks the wrong girl has been picked! I think Jeri Ryan with dark hair is the right girl for Wonder Women! She can act and has strong presents. She would be a good transition girl from Linda Carter and women today!!

Good point, Sara. I did more or less base her abilities on the TV version - which for good or bad is the version so many know her by. Though even in the course of that show, more abilities would be revealed. It will be interesting to see how Whedon showcases her powers in the upcoming feature.

I think you need to be clear on which version of WW you are going by... if you use modern day WW who at one point was killed and brought back to life by Zeus was made into the Goddess of Truth. At that time she was the most powerful of all heroes. But if you don't use the Goddess version, you should at least use the version created in the 80s by George Perez. The hero was given gifts by all the female gods and hermes at the time the clay was given life. WW can fly, has the speed of hermes, the wisdom and ability to fight of Athena... and so on. I'd put good money on her to beat all these chicks.
