How to Save Money on Microsoft Office Software
I am one of those people who was unable to work as a college student but of the fact that I needed to focus all of my time and effort into my education. I wanted to finish at the top of my class so I could not distract myself by also working at the same time. What this meant to me was the
fact that I had to keep a budget and stick by it tightly. At the end of each semester I would calculate how much I spent on various things and graph them. For me, it turns out that almost all of the money I spent was going to software which I needed for my classes. i found it almost impossible to get through college without this software and the most important of these was Microsoft Office because I would use it to write papers for classes. However, as a graduate student found that there are several ways to save money on office and the following techniques have been the most useful for me:
1) Attend a Presentation
When Office is first released Microsoft will run classes to education customers on how to use the product. If you sign up for these classes and attend them you will be given a free copy of the office software. The class is about two hours and they will try to sell you other things but it is well worth the time if you have the time to spare. You will need to have up on the reservation list to do this via their website and it fills up quickly so you should reserve your spot.
2) Student discount
If you are currently a student then chances are your college will offer you a discount on the software. Some smaller colleges offer the software for $30 to students while larger schools will provide it to their students free of charge when brand new versions are released.
3) Rent it
If you are not a student then you can look into renting it from your public library at no cost to you. If you are a student then you can check the library in your university because they will commonly off a rental copy to students if they do not have discounted copies available to you. If you are unaware of which option your school offers to you then you should contact the student software department and inquire about this discounted software.
