The Great American Love Affair for generations has been between a man and his automobile. Mustangs in Cherry Red. GTOs in Marina Blue. Cameros in Sunshine Yellow. No matter the vehicle, muscle cars to pick-up trucks, man has loved them all.

As one watches the American male caress the curves and lines of his favorite, as he dotes on her every whim, is attuned with her every stress and rushes to ease any strain, one would think that his favorite is a woman. Although a woman would like that kind of sensitive attention, she falls to second place next to a sleek body, leather seats, and a powerful engine.

JD Powers recently released a list of vehicles bought primarily by men. They are expensive and sexy.

The Audi S6 is an impressive vehicle with a 435 horsepower, 5.2 liter, Direct Injection V10 engine. The S6 allows a man experience the while maintaining glorious comfort. Since July of this year, ninety-two percent of all Audi S6 buyers have been men.

After thirty years, Pontiac brilliantly decided in 2004 to bring back the GTO. The GTO caters to the American male with fond memories of his first love, making them feel young again. Meanwhile Pontiac introduced a whole new generation to the GTO who now love the vehicle as much as the first generation did. Eighty-nine percent of all GTOs sold are bought by men of all ages.

For those who prefer European power there is always the beautiful Porsche 911 series. With fourteen different models to choose from, male buyers are easily pleased.

Surprisingly, a compact car has become a favorite among male buyers. Eighty-seven percent of Volkswagen R32 purchases have been made by men. The R32 is part of Volkswagen's Golf series. With a 250 horsepower V6, no wonder this little compact has become so popular.

On the opposite side of the scale, the GMC Sierra has become the most popular pick-up truck on the market. The Sierra is a full size truck that has style and power.

The Porsche Cayman, like the 911, has hefty male ownership, roughly eighty-five percent. The Cayman appeals to men looking for a high-end vehicle that packs performance.
