Best of Eastern Thai Cusine Can Be Found at More Than One Famous Chicago Location

With one notable exception, Chicago is not exactly well known for Asian food. Never the less there are more than enough good Thai style restaurants to choose from. Whenever we visit Chicago it's a big debate over whether we go first

for Chicago Dogs, Greek, Italian or Asian food. I am almost the lone voter for Thai food but eventually I get to pick where we eat. When that happens one of the following Thai food eating establishments will be my choice.

My first choice is always Opart Thai because it has been around for so long that you know it will still be great Thai food at very affordable prices. They have more than one location but I really have only tried the one at North Western Avenue, Chicago. My favorite starter is a beef satay dish that Opart serves with hot sauce instead of the Malay peanut sauce. Opart calls this starter Tiger Cry. There are so many choices on their menu that you just have to experience it to understand. After beef satay starter I love to have any of their many noodle or fried rice dishes. I especially love to try any of the rice that mix with nuts of any kind and raisins or pineapple bits. Fried rice with cashew bits is my favorite. Sometimes they have a "Walnut Shrimp" dish on special that is arguably the best Asian food I have ever eaten. The only thing that I could do without, but that exists at almost every truly Thai restaurant, is the addition to the décor of the evidently obligatory Thai Royalty pictures. Like most affordable Thai restaurants in Chicago, the décor is basic simple but then again, you did go there for the décor, right?
