What Nobody Tells You About Homeschooling

The fact that homeschooling is a huge commitment probably isn't one that many people find surprising. Homeschooling ones children requires dedication, determination, resourcefulness, patience, and sacrifice. Most homeschooling parents would agree though that for all of the effort
homeschooling requires, the payoff is more than worth any inconvenience. There are some aspects of homeschooling that are important to be aware of but may not be overtly obvious to those who have not yet begun. While these are not reasons to avoid homeschooling, they are aspects of this lifestyle that are important to be aware of before jumping in head first.

Did you say "lifestyle"? - Yes, I did. Homeschooling from the outside may just appear to be an educational method to many. However, homeschoolers know that homeschooling often begins to bleed into nearly every aspect of your family's life. Even for those who start out homeschooling without really having a philosophy in regards to education (like I did), it is not uncommon to realize before long that homeschooling really does affect any previous ideas or beliefs you had about education. Everything becomes a learning opportunity, and the gentle nature of homeschooling begins to grow into other areas of daily life. Homeschooling is definitely a lifestyle.
