of course that they pay you less to sell for more...it's obvious...that's how it works...I know it's kinda mean...and not fair...I'm about to sell some stuff, I got Bebe, A&F, A/X...and I know that I'm not gonna get exact same money that I spend...but better than nothing... :) you guys know, in Game stop , they got same rules...for a new game ,they pay you $10, they sell for $25...life is brutal ;) but don't give up !!!

TODAY...I decided not to sell my items on eBay anymore. Tired of the fees & having to ship. So I decide to pack up my items & take a few to Platos Closet. I took brand new BabyPhat jeans in last year to be turned down because it was not a brand they accepted..though the website says differently. Ok....this time I just know they will take my items....Nike Pink T-shirt, Pink & White Adidas purse, White Gap Skirt..all brand new with tags on them, pristine condition, most pastel colors and sizes ranging from S-Lg. Current fashion...I have pictures to prove it. Guess what? They did not take any of it. Young lady said that those weren't the brands they take. WTF? What teenager doesn't wear NIKE /ADIDAS. I smiled kindly, had an idea of what might be going on. Did not want to assume>>I said thank you & left. I sent my teenage sons girlfriend in with 3 of the same items 3 hours later. They took them. I am biracial and she is white. U tell me what it is then? Sounds like a Class Action Lawsuit!!

platos sucks!. they think they can make us buy cloth ..my daddy pays around 1000 each day just to satisfy me..so if platos thinks theyll be getting my nice ass cloth for 20 dollars when the original price was 400 they are on crack!,..thats right

I've also seen new items from Wet Seal and Forever 21 with the store tag being lower than what Plato's was charging! I mean come on guys, the tag is right there!

Our Plato's only buys A&E, AF, and anything else that might look like that. I live in a very racially diverse college town and find it ridiculous that the management continues this trend. I've been in there on several occasions and found a ton of items that were very worn out and outdated. What happened to the 'less than a year old' policy? I've seen shoes that were so filthy and disgusting that even Goodwill wouldn't want them! I worked at a used fashion store as a buyer for years and we never turned people away like they do!

now it makes me believe that plato's isn't a great place to go to sell clothes. I mean i understand that the workers are trying to defend their store, but it's the customers that deserve to be treated fairly. I'm definitely not going to Plato's closet.

I'm sorry -- for both of the evening dresses together

Took 2 White House/Black Market evening dresses there -- they wanted to pay $20 for them.

i don't like platos because i took alot of things up there & they denied everything & some of that stuff i had i never wore & it was brand name i gave them the stuff that they said they took but the lady said oh we don't take jackets or dresses but my thing is why would you put that on your flier if you don't take those items

what is the store that is run by the same owners or platos and onceupon a child that buys clothes that are for more mature woman, not teen ager clothes, I know there is one in schaumburg il but I can't remember the name

I'm going to have to agree with you. I work in media, and I know for a FACT that they do not advertise on urban stations or target African American teens. I tested it out myself. I took in over a hundred shirts, jeans, and shoes and everything was denied. Some of these things included brand new Express with the price tags still on them. I'm not one to pull the race card, but I do call a spade a spade...

I'm not too thrilled with Plato's. They don't offer a fair deal of money back to you for your clothes & then they turn around to sell for more. I've tried with quite a few items such as True Religion & Paige Denim jeans. They couldn't offer me more than $20 per pair!! Yeah ok, I spend $150+ on my jeans to get $20 back? They can't give more than $20 for jeans regardless of name???!! I've gone in with my Abercrombie items, where I was a manager, very recently mind you, & owned a ton of it! Most barely worn, just cuz we keep up with what is seasonal. & I got an awesome discount so I bought a ton of stuff! I've gone in with almost like new express, banana republic, jcrew, etc, but rather look at the condition, they look at the bottom tag located near the bottom of your clothing article for a date of when the item was in stores... Ridiculous sorry. My condition of my clothes is outstanding to some of the stuff I see around the store. Maybe it's the area too. I don't know. I have also go

My daughter and I love Plato's Closet. She goes there almost weekly and always comes home with some great buys. She also takes clothes there and they only take some of the clothes but she does not mind. She understands that they have to be selective, not only because the items might not be in style or in good condition, but also because they may not need anymore of that particular item. The more selective they are, the better chance she has of finding really good stuff. And as far as marking up the items, don't you think they have overhead costs to pay for, rent, employees to pay, advertising and so on. How are they suppose to pay all of those expenses?
