I had my FIRST AND LAST experience at Plato's Closet today! I took in 20+ items, many of which were BCBG in incredible condition. Granted, these were things that were 5+ years old, and would never wear again. One dress was $400 from BCBG! They bought 8 items from me for $20.75. I couldn't believe it. The only good thing out of the whole fiasco was that they bought all of these cheap tunic tops that I bought at the Junior's Department at Macy's when I was pregnant. However, they turned down my Seven and Diesel jeans. That place is such a scam. I would have been better off to sell them on ebay or craigslist. To all would-be sellers at Plato's Closet.....don't sell to them!! They will totally rip you off!

You guys are aware that you're selling USED clothing that you DON'T WANT anymore. Of course you're not going to get near the price as you paid for it. The same thing goes when you go to sell a used car. If you're looking for extra cash and want to get rid of clothes anyways, why not sell them? What else are you going to do with the clothes? And, of course the sell if for more than they gave you. It's the way THEY MAKE MONEY.

I just got back from Platos Closet and I had 10 pair of designer jeans (Juicy, Frankie B, AG, DKNY) at the botton of my box of clothes and they did not even look at them. They told me that all the clothes were too mature. They did not even take the clothes out of the box. they just sifted through the box very quickly. What Bull*@!#. I looked through the store and saw my exact jeans on a hanger in the store. Platos closet employees are sooooo freekin retarted!!!! I will never go back there.

just because your biracial doesnt mean that were not going to take your clothes?

I think it is an age issue. They are bitchy at Plato's, and they especially like being snooty to anyone over 25. Sending a younger person in with the same items WILL get them accepted.

Platos is such a big joke.My friends were telling me about how they rip people off for thier clothes so i decided to test them one day and bring in two pairs of my true religion jeans which i wore like only about 2 or 3 times?and a Juicy tracksuit that i bought like a week before.and they wanted to buy my jeans for $16 and the tracksuit for $20.i laughed in her face and said i change my mind cuase i know my clothes will look way better on me then hanging on the window of your store. So basically dont even try to sell there. It's Ridiculous.

Yeah I know that they will only pay you $5 for a A+E shirt......but seriously, they have some really good deal there.I mean,$12 for a pair of $80 Abercrombie jeans?? That is pretty unbeatable in my book.

of course that they pay you less to sell for more...it's obvious...that's how it works...I know it's kinda mean...and not fair...I'm about to sell some stuff, I got Bebe, A&F, A/X...and I know that I'm not gonna get exact same money that I spend...but better than nothing... :) you guys know, in Game stop , they got same rules...for a new game ,they pay you $10, they sell for $25...life is brutal ;) but don't give up !!!

TODAY...I decided not to sell my items on eBay anymore. Tired of the fees & having to ship. So I decide to pack up my items & take a few to Platos Closet. I took brand new BabyPhat jeans in last year to be turned down because it was not a brand they accepted..though the website says differently. Ok....this time I just know they will take my items....Nike Pink T-shirt, Pink & White Adidas purse, White Gap Skirt..all brand new with tags on them, pristine condition, most pastel colors and sizes ranging from S-Lg. Current fashion...I have pictures to prove it. Guess what? They did not take any of it. Young lady said that those weren't the brands they take. WTF? What teenager doesn't wear NIKE /ADIDAS. I smiled kindly, had an idea of what might be going on. Did not want to assume>>I said thank you & left. I sent my teenage sons girlfriend in with 3 of the same items 3 hours later. They took them. I am biracial and she is white. U tell me what it is then? Sounds like a Class Action Lawsuit!!

platos sucks!. they think they can make us buy cloth ..my daddy pays around 1000 each day just to satisfy me..so if platos thinks theyll be getting my nice ass cloth for 20 dollars when the original price was 400 they are on crack!,..thats right

I've also seen new items from Wet Seal and Forever 21 with the store tag being lower than what Plato's was charging! I mean come on guys, the tag is right there!

Our Plato's only buys A&E, AF, and anything else that might look like that. I live in a very racially diverse college town and find it ridiculous that the management continues this trend. I've been in there on several occasions and found a ton of items that were very worn out and outdated. What happened to the 'less than a year old' policy? I've seen shoes that were so filthy and disgusting that even Goodwill wouldn't want them! I worked at a used fashion store as a buyer for years and we never turned people away like they do!
