Maintaining Without Gaining
You still want to cut out carbs as much as you can but you have more flexibility in this phase. Let's start out with a typical breakfast recipe for phase 3.Canadian Bacon Bagel
3 slices of canadian bacon
1/2 whole wheat bagel
2 tbsp 2 % milk shredded cheddar cheese
Heat canadian bacon in a skillet as you would normally do. Place on bagel half and sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Microwave for 30-35 seconds or until cheese is melted. It's as easy as
Another pizza recipe but a good one! This is the grilled pizza with pesto and feta cheese. It packs on a whopping 430 calories per serving so make sure you only have one and not every day.
1lb prepared whole wheat pizza dough
1/2 cup prepared pesto
4 plum tomatoes
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Fresh pepper to taste
1/4 cup lightly packed basil leaves
Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll each piece into about an 8 inch circle. Lay the crusts out on your grill and cook until they are lightly puffed and brown. Flip the crusts and add pesto. Top with tomatoes, salt, pepper and feta cheese. Cover and grill about 3 minutes. add your basil and serve.
Foil Baked Fish (can be used for phase 1, 2 or 3)
4 fish fillets
1 cup green beans
1 cup yellow squash
1 teaspoon dill
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lime
Brush each fillet with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with dill and place on a sheet of aluminum foil. Add 1/4 cup of beans and squash to the foil and squeeze a bit of lime juice. Repeat with each fillet in their own separate foil. Carefully wrap the fish and veggies with the foil and close into a tight packet. Cook on a baking sheet for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
For dessert the chocolate dipped apricots are very popular.
24 dried apricots
2 ounces bittersweet chocolate
1 tbsp chopped pistachios
Microwave the chocolate for about 2 minutes on high. Dip the apricots halfway into the chocolate and place them onto wax paper. Sprinkle the chopped pistachio's over the apricots and place in the refrigerator to cool and set.
