Reformatting a computer wipes the memory and data clean, thus making it run as fast as it possibly can. It removes any information left on the computer and prepares itself for a reinstall of an operating system. First thing required for installing an operating system is an install disk. However, the process is not as easy as clicking "install now". You must put the disk into the CD drive and make the computer boot from the CD. Clicking either f8 or f12 when the computer is starting up can do this. Then you will be presented with a question of what partition you would like to reformat. Assuming you only have one drive, the correct partition to click on would be the used space. This will overwrite previous information left on your computer, including the operating system. If you are installing Windows, you can simply click the install button once the reformatting task is complete. The installation process can take up to 30 minutes, so prepare to be bored as you stare at the progress bar. Once the installation is complete, you can pat yourself on the back because you just installed Windows.
