Now is the time of the year when the flies get to flying and the bee's get to buzzing. It's also the time when Charleston,West Virginia residents has something to look forward to without having to pay a penny. Well unless you want to of course because the 3 day event of the Multifest

Now in it's 19th year, the Multifest has a long fun filled weekend ahead from Aug.1st-Aug.3rd. The first night will feature local hip hop and r and b acts. Def Jam recording artist, Bobby Valentino, is coming by to bless the stage as the main event. Not into Hip Hop? Thats alright because you can bring the family out to grab some famous rib's or visit one of the many stands that has multi-cultural souvenirs for sale.

On Saturday night you can catch artist such as, Thump Daddy and Wu-Tang's G Tee Shotta. In case that isn't enough then wait and stop by around 10:45 p.m. and see Freddie Jackson.

On Sunday stop by and catch Kingdom Records recording artist Cynthia Jones at 5:45 pm. Or you can stick around and catch some jazz from Ann Baker and Bob Thompson. The Chi-Lites will be closing out the weekend's festivities.

From the music, food, to the clothes and wood carvings sold, Multifest is an event to have you talking all summer. It is more than just going and listening to an artist sing. It is a time to bond with family and take them out to a free event that only comes once a year. The Multifest happens onetime a year in August at the State Capital Complex on Historical East End Charleston,W.Va. Don't live in Charleston or a surrounding town ? That is OK because thousands of people come from all over the Region to see this event.

Take your kids out Friday night to support their favorite artist or take them out on Sunday night to let them experience that "old time," feel. You can spend money on food and souvenirs but this is really a free event. Just show up and have fun with your family. It is truly a way to get back into or to continue the family spirit. This is a multi-cultural event so it is also educational. You can learn and experience many new things. This even last all day, all weekend.
