Photoshop - How to Create a 3D Glass Ball
One of the neat things about Photoshop is you can easily create 3D things. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create a 3D Glass Ball. You can make the ball any color that you want when you get the hang of making them. In this
tutorial I will show you how to create a blue 3D Glass Ball. I will write the first part of this tutorial for beginners and the second part for the advance. If you are an advance user, please skip down to the advance part of this tutorial.
How to Create a 3D Glass Ball in Photoshop for Beginners
Open your Photoshop program and let the program load. Next you will need to create a new canvas to work on. Click File > New to create a new canvas. 300pixel x 300 pixels is a good size canvas to use. Set your background to white.
Now you will need to create a new layer. If you do not see your Layers Panel, click Window > Layers at the top of your Photoshop window and that will bring your Layers Panel up. You will see a little Icon at the bottom of the Layers Panel that looks like a sheet of paper with the corner curled. Click on that Icon to create a new layer. You can name the layer whatever you want and then click OK. I named my layer Ball.
Now set your Foreground Color to Black and your Background Color to White. These are the two colors in your toolbar. The Foreground color is the top color.
Select your Ellipse Tool and draw a circle on your canvas. You will need to hold down the square in your toolbar until the box drops down and then select the ellipse tool.
Right click on the Layer that you created and click Rasterize Layer. Right click again on the layer and select Duplicate Layer. Right click on the layer that you just duplicated and click Blending Options. Leave your Blending Options open until I tell you to click OK.
In the Blending Options dialog box you will see a list of options down the left hand side. Click on Drop Shadow. Make sure you click on the word so that it is highlighted.
