The John Bell Farm located in Adams, Tennessee is said to be one of the most haunted locations in all of American history. The story itself is loaded with spiritual activity. There have been reports of voices, spectral creatures, and poltergeist activity. The events led to the imminent death of John Bell, all at control by the infamous Bell Witch.

The Bell Witch story originated in 1817; when the Bell family began experiencing unexplainable phenomena in their home. The first ghostly experience was the knocking and scratching sounds made by their home. Soon after, they were experiencing blankets being pulled from their beds, family member's hair being pulled and also being kicked and scratched. Betsy Bell, the 12 year old daughter of John Bell, seemed to have the worst encounters. She was bruised, slapped, stuck with pins, and pinched. John Bell wanted the paranormal activity to be kept quiet among him and his family, but he soon confided in a friend. The friend formed an investigative committee and soon learned that the paranormal activity in the house had a dreadful intelligence. From that day, the spirit was never again quiet.

Kate Batts was whom the spirit identified itself to be the witch of. She was a neighbor of the Bell's, and John had some bad business with her over purchasing some slaves. The witch of Kate started appearing almost every day in the Bell's home, always wreaking havoc on all the family. All the people from Robertson County had soon learned of the witch, due to her appearances in sounds and voices. In fact, the witch had become so famous; the great General Andrew Jackson had decided to pay the town a visit. He experienced his own nasty encounter with the witch from his carriage wheels refusing to turn.
