Christina Applegate Diagnosed with Early Form of Breast Cancer
Christina Applegate has had a roller coaster year as it is. On the professional front, Christina Applegate was Emmy nominated for her new comedy Samantha Who? on ABC, which Christina Applegate helped make one of the few successful new shows in the strike-altered 2007
TV season. On the personal front, Christina Applegate's on again-off again boyfriend Lee Grivas was found dead in early July. Now comes news that Christina Applegate faces a stronger personal crisis, as doctors detected that Christina Applegate faces an early form of breast cancer.
Early on Saturday, the news of Christina Applegate's breast cancer was disclosed by Applegate's publicist, Ame Vae Iden. However, despite the unpleasant diagnoses, it was made clear that since Applegate has an early form of breast cancer, it will not be life threatening.
Vae Iden's statement, according to various media reports, said that "Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery." The early detection was found after Applegate's doctor ordered her to undergo an MRI
Applegate's upcoming treatments will not interrupt her shooting schedule for Samantha Who? This takes place as the show, in which Applegate plays a woman suffering from amnesia who slowly discovers how horrible she acted before her accident, begins filming for it's second season. Applegate starts alongside fellow Emmy nominee Jean Smart, Jennifer Esposito and Barry Watson.
Even before receiving this diagnoses of breast cancer, Applegate had agreed to take part in the upcoming "Stand Up To Cancer" television special to be aired simultaneously on ABC, CBS and NBC. The special will air September 5. Over two weeks later on September 21, Applegate will be up for the Best Comedy Actress Emmy for Samantha Who?
