Bike Trails in the Charlotte, North Carolina Area
Charlotte is a big city and getting bigger every year, bringing lots of traffic. Bicycles and traffic do not mix very well! So if you love to ride a bike, you may want to consider the many safe bike trails in Charlotte. This is a very fun activity and the best exercise comes from doing something you enjoy. So I have made a list of bike trails in the Queen City and will include websites where you can get more information.
Freedom Park
Freedom Park is located at 1900 East Blvd in Charlotte North Carolina, you can call at 704-432-4280. This place is great, not only for bike riders of course. They have a lake and a museum as well as tennis and basketball courts. You can check out this site for more information.
Renaissance Park
Renaissance Park can be found at 1200 West Tyvola Road in the Queen City. For more information you can call 704-529-1827. In addition to their other great things to try, there are 6.5 miles of bike trails. Also there are two concession stands if you need some refreshments.
Beech Spring Mountain Bike Park
This one can be found on Popular Tent Road in Charlotte, and cost $2 a bike rider. There is a 4.8 mile route for bicyclists, some of it is kind of difficult to navigate but that can be avoided.
The U.S. National Whitewater Center
You can get directions and more details at their website here. I would recommend this for experienced mountain bike riders as this is a strenuous course. You can buy or rent any bikes or equipment you may need at their outfitters shop. You can even volunteer to help keep the trials clean and safe. Of course there are many other things to do here but the biking is great here.
Cane Creek State Park
Cane Creek is located just outside of the Queen City, in Waxhaw North Carolina. The address is 5213 Harkey Road in Waxhaw. There is camping and other things available in addition to the bike riding.
McAlpine Creek Greenway
McAlpine Creek is located off of Monroe Road in Charlotte North Carolina, and has been around since 1978. There are almost 9 miles of trails for hikers and bikers on the Greenway.
Mallard and Clarks Creek Greenway
